Mango Lassi

Mango Lassi, i was vehemently looking out for a new recipe that can be prepared in a jiffy with the bunch of mangoes i had in stock. Hubby being a "no, no" for mango i did not want to spend too much time with this drink. I wanted to incorporate it with the sweet curd i made. Not too difficult to find the mango lassi on the world wide web. There were numerous recipes and i got hooked to one easy-peasy one. Well thats exactly what i am going to share with you all today.

The months of April-May are the hottest and many summer drinks and coolers are made to quench the thirst and also to cool the body. April_may is also the season of Mangoes here in India. Once can buy different varieties of mangoes this season.
Mangoes are a favourite of many people. Till date, i have not found anyone who does not like mangoes. What better way than to combine the sweetness of mangoes with the coolness of yogurt.

I have used some full cream for this lassi, you could skip it if you don't want, or else you could also add full cream milk while whipping it up. The flavourings for this could either be cardamom powder, rose water or saffron strands. You can choose any of them. I have used Kesar variety of mango and cardamom powder here. You could skip all these and keep it plain and simple too.

Lets get to the recipe

Ingredients :

Kesar mango / any pulpy mango of your choice - 2 big nos. / 3-4 medium sized ones
(or)
Ready made pulp - 1 can
Full fat fresh curd / yogurt - 2 cups
25%-30& fat fresh cream or malai - 2- tbsp (optional)
Cardamom powder or rose water or saffron strands - 1/2 tsp
Sugar or Honey - 4-5 tbsp (it can be skipped if the mangoes are sweet)
Few mint leaves or Mango cubes or dry fruits - for garnish

Method :

1. Peel and chop the mangoes
2. In a blender, puree the mangoes along with sugar and cardamom powder or saffron or rose water
3. Now add the chilled yogurt/curd and cream (i skipped the cream and malai)
4. Add some ice cubes
5. Blend for some seconds till everything is mixed well and the yogurt becomes smooth
6. Serve mango lassi in glasses topped with some mint leaves or dry fruits or mango cubes
7. If you want a slightly thin consistency, add some milk to the mix while blending.

Voila !! Mango lassi is ready in no time.
