Dal dhokli

Dal dhokli is a gujarathi dish and its a  complete meal  which is healthy and its easy .Dhokli are spiced pasta made with drumwheat and besan flour .

Ingredients:
 1 cup toor dhal, boiled and mashed
 2 tbsp of boiled peanuts
  1 tbsp of chopped onion
 1/2 tomato
 1 tsp of mustard seeds
 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
 1/4 tsp of chilli powder
 2 tbsp of oil+ ghee

 pinch of hing, salt
half lime , juice squeezed
Garnish : few chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves

For dhokli:
 1 cup wheat flour
 1 tbsp of gram flour
 1/2 tsp of ajawain
 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, chilli powder, hing
 1 tbsp of oil
 water as needed
salt to taste

Method:




  •   For dhoklis , combine all ingredients to make soft dough
  • Divide dough to small round ball
  • Roll the dough to flat bread, not too thick or too soft.
  • Cut the rolled bread to small diamonds .
  • Meanwhile boil and mash the dal/lentils
  • Heat oil + ghee in kadai, add mustard as it splutters add cumin seeds .
  • As cumin sizzles add curry leaves, hing, onion and cook for a minute till it is transparent.
  • Add chopped tomato and cook till its mushed.Now tip in chilli powder, turmeric powder , saltand cook for a minute.
  • pour in mashed lentil, add 1 1/2 cup water and peanuts. Now tip in cut flat breads to this boiling lentil mixture and cook for 5 mintues.
  • Cook till the flat bread/ pasta is cooked well.Squeeze lime juice.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves ans serve hot with papadams.
