Dal fry is the easiest and less spices required. In most of the restaurants day fry and dal tadka taste similar. For this receipe I have used Red split lentil , it taste similar to toor dhal.
Ingredients:
1 cup red split lentil, boil
2 tbsp of yellow split lentil
6 cloves of garlic
1 tsp of grated ginger
1 medium sized tomato
1 large onion finely chopped
2 green chillies
1/2cup water
1 tsp of mustard
1 tsp of turmeric powder
1 tsp of kasuri methi
pinch of hing
3 -4 tbsp of ghee + oil
few corriander leaves chopped for garnish
salt to taste
Procedure:
- Pressure cook the lentils with turmeric powder and whisk it hand blender .
- Heat the skillet with oil+butter add mustard , once it splutters add cumin.
- Now add chilli, onion, hing stir in well till onion turns transparent, then add ginger+ garlic.
- Cook till onion gets brown then tip in cut tomatoes.
- Cook till oil oozes out.
- Now add in lentil to the skillet and add water to bring it to medium consistency.
- Cook for 3 mintues, see to that it doesnt stick to the bottom. Sprinkle kasuri methi , cook for a minute.
- GArnish with chopped coriander leaeves.
Serve with hot roti (indian wheat bread)or rice
