Kadappa Sambar




Ingredients:

Moong Dal        1/4 cup
Onion                   1
Potato                   1
Green Chillies        2
Tomato                 1
oil  1 tbsp
bay leave: 1
clove:1
 cardamom 1  pod
Coriander Leaves
Curry Leaves

FOR GRINDING: 

Coconut         2  tbsp
Garlic             5(small)
Fennel Seeds   1tsp
Aniseeds: 1 tsp
Cinnamon       1 piece


METHOD

Pressure  cook moong dal and mash it .
Boil potatoes and chop them into cubes.
Grind into paste coconut,garlic,fennel seeds, cinnamon,aniseeds

Heat oil add the add bay leaves, cardamon,cloves, chilli.
Add chopped onion saute it, then tip in chopped tomato, cook for a minute.

Add boiled and chopped potatoes and cook for a minute. then add the grinded paste and cook for 2 minutes.
Add the mashed moong dhal  , simmer it and cook for 3 minutes, stirring .If is too thick add some 1/2 cup of water .
Once it starts getting thicker you can switch it off.
Serve with idli,dosa.
