Dal tadka/ Lentil

Proteins are important for us, especiallykids. For vegetarians main sourceof proteins are got from , yogurt,legumes, cheese, milk. This is easy recipe which is highly protein , its basically pressure cook the lentils  with onions, tomatoes and tempered .

Prep time:: 15 mins cooking time:: 20 mins  serves: 4-5
             

Ingredients:
 1 cup masoor dal or toor dal
 1/4 cup channa dal
 2 cups of water
 1/2 onion chopped
 1 tomato chopped
 1 green chilli
 2 cloves garlic crushed
 1 tsp of asafotedia
 1 tsp of turmeric powder
 1 tsp of kasrui methi(dried fenugreek leaves)
 1 tsp of garam masala
 1 tsp of paprika powder
 salt  for taste
 few sprigs of coriander leaves chopped for garnishing

 Tempering:

 1 tbsp of ghee
 1/2 tomato chopped
 1/2 onion chopped
 1 tsp of cumin
 2 dried red chillies
 1 cloves crushed garlic
 2 tsp of asafotedia

Method:

  •  Combine lentils, turmeric powder, green chilli, chopped onion, tomato, ginger, garlic,salt,water and pressure cook them.
  • Cook well till its soft  , now mush it well until creamy.
  • Transfer the content to saucepan and add garam masala, paprika and cook for a minute.
  • Add kasuri methi , stir well and switch it off.
  • Heat the ghee in a pan , add cumin wait till it splatters , add dried chilli, fry it.
  • Now tip in crushed garlic, fry till brown.
  • Add chopped onion, saute it, then add tomato
  • Once it is fried well add asafotedia and switch it off and tip it in the lentil .
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it with rice or roti,nan.
