Snake gourd kootu/pudalankai kootu

There are many varities of gourd grown in tropics, snake gourd,bottle gourd, ash gourd, ridge gourd, bitter gourd, all are same family . Snake gourd is easy to chop and  its easy to cook , it cooks quickly. This  snake gourd recipe is close to my heart and like it very much , we will start cooking than inking...
                                  

Ingredients:
2 cups of snake gourd
1 cup of boiled toor dhal/ lentil
1 tsp of pepper powder(coarsely powdered)
2 green chilli, chopped
1 tsp of turmeric powder
11/2 tsp of cumin
2 -3 tbsp of grated coconut
2 sprigs of coriander , curry leaves

Tempering:
3 tsp of oil
1 tsp of mstard seeds
1 tsp of urud dhal
 pinch of asafotedia
                               
                               

Method:
  • Pressure cook lentils.
  • Cut the snake gourd into bite size .
                                  
  •  Boil the gourd with enough amount of water, add salt, pepper,turmeric powder.
  •  Meanwhile ,mash the lentils 
  • Combine coconut,cumin,green chilli in food processor and grind it. 
  • Now add the mashed lentil to the gourd when its half cooked , cook it simmer for 2 minutes or until gourd becomes soft.
  •  Now tip in the grinded mixture stir in well , in simmer cook for a minute,remove from the heat once all combines well.
  •   Heat the tava and add oil , add the mustard allow it to splatter, then add urud dhal and asafotedia, curry leaves and swirl well.
  •  Add the tempering to the kootu and garnish with coriander leaves.
