Ingredients:
2 cups of snake gourd
1 cup of boiled toor dhal/ lentil
1 tsp of pepper powder(coarsely powdered)
2 green chilli, chopped
1 tsp of turmeric powder
11/2 tsp of cumin
2 -3 tbsp of grated coconut
2 sprigs of coriander , curry leaves
Tempering:
3 tsp of oil
1 tsp of mstard seeds
1 tsp of urud dhal
pinch of asafotedia
Method:
Ingredients:

Tempering:
3 tsp of oil
1 tsp of mstard seeds
1 tsp of urud dhal
pinch of asafotedia
Method:
- Pressure cook lentils.
- Cut the snake gourd into bite size .
- Boil the gourd with enough amount of water, add salt, pepper,turmeric powder.
- Meanwhile ,mash the lentils
- Combine coconut,cumin,green chilli in food processor and grind it.
- Now add the mashed lentil to the gourd when its half cooked , cook it simmer for 2 minutes or until gourd becomes soft.
- Now tip in the grinded mixture stir in well , in simmer cook for a minute,remove from the heat once all combines well.
- Heat the tava and add oil , add the mustard allow it to splatter, then add urud dhal and asafotedia, curry leaves and swirl well.
- Add the tempering to the kootu and garnish with coriander leaves.
