Falafel/ Chickpeas patties

Falafel   is middle eastern , a scrumptious dish, food and made with chickpeas and fava beans,-or only chick peas or only fava beans - made as patties and fried in hot oil and served in pita bread or can be served for snacks with tahini sauce.
I felt its similar to our VADA recipe and this post is for my friend Miss R.

Ingredients:
 1 cup of  chick peas
1/2 cup of  freshly chopped coriander leaves
 1/4 cup  fresh parsley
 5-6 garlic cloves
 1/2 chopped onion
 1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp of cumin powder
1/2 tsp of coriander powder
1/2 tsp of baking soda

Instruction:

  •  Soak chickpeas overnight in water, following day or next day drain the chickpeas and rinse the chickpeas.
  • Add chick peas, chopped coriander leaves, parsley, garlic cloves, chopped onion, pepper and salt  to a food processor or a mixie jar and blend to a smooth paste.
  •
  • Transfer the content to a bowl and tip in cumin powder, coriander powder  and baking soda and knead well.
  • Simultaneously heat the oil  in pan, now scoop the mixture or make as balls and fry it in deep oil until brown
  •

  • Drain the oil and serve with tahini sauce/ hummus/or in pita bread .
  •
Note:

  1. If you want a good falafel , its better to use beans instead of tinned beans.
  2. While blending the chickpeas, DO NOT use more water, it should be thick like our VADA batter.
