Venthayakeerai is fenugreek leaves has little bitter taste and has many medicinal values , used as remedy for digestive problems, controlling cholesterol.
Ingredients:
1 cup methi leaves
1/4 cup moong dhal
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp of pepper corns
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1 tbsp of grated coconut
1 sprig of curry leaves,coriander leaves
Tempering
3 tsp of oil
1 tsp of ururd dhal
pinch of asafotedia
Method:
Ingredients:

Method:
- Wash thoroughly methi/frnugreek leaves , cut and steam it.
- In a heavy bottomed cook dhal/lentil with enough water, cook till it(moong dhal) becomes soft.
- Mash the lentil.
- Add the methi leaves , add turmeric powder, salt to the lentil, cook for a minute, in simmer.
- Grind coconut,peppercorns,cumin in a processor.Add the grinded paste to the above mixture.
- Cook for a minute in simmer and switch it off.
- In a pan , heat oil tip in mustard , as it splutters add urud dhal, pinch of asafotedia.Pour this tempering it on the methi leaves kootu.
- Garnish with chopped curry leaves,coriander leaves.
- Serve with roti or rice.
