Plantain / valzahkkai podimas

Raw plantain can be cooked in different ways such as podimas, valzhakkai curry, vazhakkai chips .Podimas is just stir fry the raw plantain with chopped ginger,chilli and toss it with grated coconut,  and garnish with curry leaves.
                       

Ingredients:
2 plantain, steamed , grated
2 green chilli
1 inch ginger
1 tbsp of grated coconut
2 tsp of coconut oil
1 tsp of sunflower oil
1 tsp of mustard seeds
1 tsp of ururd dhal
pinch of asafotedia
1 sprig of curry leaves


Method:


  • Par boil the plantain by steam cooking or boiling it in hot water.
  •                         
  • Plantain should be soft but firm to grate it.
  •                                  
  • Heat a non-stick pan with oil , add mustard, as it splutters tip in uurd dhal,ginger,asafotedia,chiili.
  •                                   
  • Tip in the grated plantain and stir it well with salt.Cook it for 1-2 minute, stirring it well.
  •                                   
  • Now tip in grated coconut and toss it well.
  • Garnish it with chopped curry leaves .
  •                                     
  • Serve with rice, dhal/sambar.
  •
